On the first Thursdays of the month, beginning on 1 October 2009, we celebrated votive Masses of Christ the Eternal High Priest in the Basilica of the Holy Trinity in Kraków. The inspiration came on the one hand from the Year for Priests then being celebrated in the Church, and on the other from the desire to bring theory closer to practice.
As people involved in the work of our Center, we do not want to remain only in the sphere of proposals, pointing out models or initiating debate – we care about celebrating Holy Mass together.
During the Masses, homilies were preached on the liturgy and on the priesthood – common and ministerial. The Masses will be celebrated in a way that makes use of the work of our Center’s collaborators. We tried to draw on Gregorian chant and traditional hymns. We took care of the altar service, so that the Masses were celebrated with due respect and reverence, without unnecessary haste. We wanted everyone to find time in them to celebrate and delight in the beauty of Christ’s Sacrifice.
